When did you come to Japan?

I came to Japan in 2008 to study.

How did you find Touch Immigration Law Firm?

When I searched online by simply entering the words “naturalization application,” Touch Immigration Law Firm was the first result that came up.

What prompted you to consult us about a permanent residence visa application?

At first, I tried applying for permanent residence on my own, but it was denied.
So I went home and did some research. I thought naturalization might be possible, and just around that time I found the name online, so I contacted them directly using the phone number.
Since my naturalization application went well, I also asked them to handle the permanent residence visa application.

How was it when you tried applying by yourself?

I applied on my own without any information about when the Immigration Bureau’s new rules might change, and I ended up failing. That made me think the process would probably go more smoothly if I asked professionals for help.

Yes. Since the naturalization application went smoothly, I wanted to ask them to handle the permanent residence applications for my wife and child as well.

How was Touch Immigration Law Firm’s support?

Everyone was very polite and kind, and they explained the process and the details in a way that was easy to understand.

How long did it take until approval?

It took about eight months. I had originally expected it to take around a year and a half, so it was faster than I anticipated.

How many meetings did you have?

About three to five times. The first time, I consulted them without knowing anything. The second time was for the contract, and the third time was for communication while preparing the documents. We also had one more meeting before submitting the documents.
The administrative scrivener told me I could call anytime, so I don’t remember the exact number of smaller consultations.

How did you feel after using the service?

Even though some issues came up, the application was completed in about eight months. At one point, there was a sudden bereavement in China and I had returned there, but additional documents were required, and I had to write them myself.
Due to the coronavirus situation, I was unable to mail anything. When I called the administrative scrivener, they calmly told me not to worry and said they would explain the detailed circumstances to the officer at the Immigration Bureau.
After that, once the documents were mailed, approval came about a month later. I was told that we absolutely had to come by a certain date in July to receive the permit, but just then my wife’s father passed away.
When I immediately called to explain the situation, they told me it would be all right and that they would contact the officer. I was very grateful for their support.

Do you think you could have handled it alone?

My wife had also returned to China, and our child was 14 years old, so I don’t think we could have done anything even if we had gone to the Immigration Bureau.
If I had not asked Touch Immigration Law Firm for help, I think the second application would also have been denied due to insufficient preparation.

Please tell us about your goals going forward

My goal is for my family to continue living in Japan all the way into our later years.
We wanted to receive Japan’s medical care and education, and that is why we obtained naturalization and permanent residence.

Finally, do you have any advice for people who are unsure about applying for a permanent residence visa?

I think it is best to consult professional specialists at least once, as the application process will likely go more smoothly.
If you keep worrying about it on your own, you waste time and the chances of making various mistakes are also high.
