Requirements for obtaining a Business Manager Visa
(1) The business office for operating the business must be located in Japan.
A place of business must exist in Japan to operate the business related to the application.
This business office can be either owned or leased by the company.
In the case of a leased property, the contract must clearly state that the tenant is the corporation conducting the business, and that the purpose of use is specified as “for business,” “store,” “office,” etc.
In addition, the business must have its own “independent space” and appropriate “facilities and equipment”.
(2) The size of the business must be above a certain level.
One of the following requirements must be met:
(1)The amount of capital or the total amount of investment is 5 million yen or more.
(2) 2 or more full-time employees. (in addition to the person applying for the Business Manager Visa)
To be considered “full-time,” the working days must be at least 5 days per week and the working hours must be at least 30 hours per week.
In addition, “residing in Japan” includes Japanese nationals, spouses, etc. of Japanese nationals, permanent residents, special permanent residents, spouses, etc. of Long-term residents, and permanent residents. Please note that foreigners on work visas are excluded.
(3) At least three years of experience in business management or administration.
This requirement applies only to those who are engaged in the management of a business.
The three or more years of work experience includes the period of time spent in a graduate program in business administration or management, for example, those who have completed a Master of Business Administration (MBA) program may include the period of time spent as a graduate student.
